The story behind the formation of the Lincoln’s Inn Alumni began in 2003, when two gentlemen, Dato' Ghazali Mat Ariff and K. Sila Dass, decided to organise a dining session for all members of Lincoln’s Inn residing in Malaysia. What started as a casual conversation eventually culminated in the Lincoln’s Inn Grand Night in March 2004, which was attended by many fellow Lincolnians. On that fateful evening, it was decided that Lincoln’s Inn Alumni will be registered as an association.

Unbeknownst to all, Dato' Seri Gopal Sri Ram (retired Federal Court Judge), had already been in touch with the Benchers of the Lincoln's Inn to discuss the formation of the Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn Alumni Association in Malaysia.

Upon being informed by Colonel David Hills M.B.E. of Lincoln’s Inn of Dato' Seri Gopal’s efforts, Dato' Ghazali and K. Sila Dass contacted him promptly to offer their assistance. Through their collective efforts, the Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn Alumni Association was officially established in September 2004 and the rest, as they say, is history.
